ChemCare, a waste management
and disposal service, was introduced by Univar USA in 1986. Founded
in 1924, Univar USA is a subsidiary of Univar Europe, a distribution
and logistics company whose roots date back to the 17th century.
ChemCare was a natural outgrowth of a company that had established
a leadership role in the chemical distribution industry.
In 1986 Univar USA also acquired McKesson Chemical,
becoming North America's largest chemical distributor. Suddenly,
a nationwide branch and transportation network was in place
to serve both the chemical and waste disposal requirements of
customers. |

The timing could
not have been better. The 1980s saw a proliferation of environmental
and regulatory requirements that placed an additional burden
on businesses. ChemCare was part of Univar USA's commitment
to environmental and product stewardship. The new service
provided companies a safe, convenient way to dispose of
hazardous and non-hazardous waste products. And, importantly,
comply with government regulations. Today, Univar USA is
still a leading chemical distributor in North America and
Univar Europe is the world leader in chemical distribution
and chemical and oil logistics. ChemCare continues to thrive
in the waste management industry with a network of 110 locations,
over 500 permitted trucks, and 60 treatment, storage, and
disposal facility (TSDF) partners. And the company's reputation
as a responsible handler of chemicals and waste products
keeps growing. |
